Consisting of only 25 verses, Jude is often an overlooked letter in the Bible. Jude had two purposes in writing his letter. His first purpose was to make believers aware of the false teachers that were penetrating their way into the communities; his second purpose was to encourage Christians to fight for truth and stand firm in their faith. Jude was aware that the false teachers were very crafty in bring their doctrine, gods, and beliefs into the lives and teachings of the Christians, and therefore he wanted to give detail and waring about how detrimental this can be. Being aware of a problem is not enough. Jude then encourages the believers to stand for truth and speak out against the false teachers. He gave them instructions on how to do†¦show more content†¦The second argument is that the referral to apostolic teachings (â€Å"the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ†) would make the writing be of a late date, which would not be true if the half-bro ther of Jesus was writing this book. The third, and final argument is that Jude did not state he is the brother of Jesus. Jude’s role as ‘a servant of Christ’ gave his letter more authority than being the ‘brother of Christ.’ None of the arguments against Jude, the brother of James, the half-brother of Jesus are strong enough not believe the claim made in scripture. There is not an exact date given for the writing of this letter. If the letter is pseudonymous, then the date of authorship would be approximately A.D. 100. However, if Jude the half-brother of Jesus is the author then the approximate date of authorship would be before A.D. 90. Jude and 2 Peter are closely related and some believe one was used to write the other. If Jude used 2 Peter to write his letter, then it can be assumed the letter was authored between A.D. 64-65. However, if Jude was used to write 2 Peter than an earlier date would be required. There is not an exact date of when the letter was written, and the date is still argued today. (Southeastern) It’s written from the point of view of Tom Wingfield, and outlines the events that caused him to flee his family, the entire story filled with undertones of guilt, as he regrets leaving his sister, Laura. The entire situation is eerily similar to the life of Williams, with the characters mimicking his real-life family – even similarly named – and the (arguably) main character, Tom, being very much like Williams, himself. Furthermore, the setting and family dynamic are nearly identical to what he grew up in, even mirroring Williams’ guilt over leaving his sister and mother to pursue his own future, as Tom ends the play with a monologue lamenting the situation and the fact that his need to escape outweighed his love for his sister, as if the play itself is a half-subconscious apology to his family for his shortcomings. The Glass Menagerie begins with Tom delivering a monologue. He states â€Å"I am the narrator of the play, and a character in it.† (Williams, scene 1). There are alternative, to this major problem but, we as the caretakers of earth must act fast. In the following paper Im going to share with you what pesticides are. Ill tell you why they are not safe to use and some of the affects of pesticides. Last, I will talk about some new alternatives there are instead of using pesticides. Pesticides are toxic chemicals that poison the earth and its environment. Pesticides main use is to kill pests that destroy food crops. They are also used in forests, lakes, city parks, lawns, hospitals, schools, and homes. There are four types of pesticides; insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and rodenticides. Insecticides kill insects, herbicides manage weeds, fungicides control mold and mildew, and rodenticides kill rodents.Pesticides are also found in a large range of products from shampoo to paper. Pesticides may be found wherever we live and work, in the air we breathe, in the water we drink, and in the food we eat(Mott Snyder 5). Why are pesticides not safe to use, and what are there affects? Pesticides have many affects on the world today. Pesticides affect the environment in two different ways, It affects the water we drink and the soils we plant our crops in. Pesticides also affect the food we eat. Not only can pesticides be detected in food they are also found in humans and animals. So why are we moving so slowly to fix the problem? Everyday pesticides are dumped into our environment. Over time most of the pesticides make thier way to a source of water, whether its groundwater or a body of water. According to Lewis Regenstein author of America the Poisoned two thirds of the nations lakes have serious pollution problems. 80% of 3,700 urban lakes in the United States are destroyed. More than 94 million residents could use these lakes for recreational use or for a source of water (169). Cincinnatis drinking water contains about 700 chemicals. 90% of them did not exist 20 years ago. The main sources of most o f these chemical pollutants are municipal sewage, industrial discharges, and runoffs from farming areas. There are also several other chemicals in Americas drinking water. Although hazardous, there are approximately 60 chemicals that are mixed into water in the process of treating it. Unlike rivers or lakes, underground supplies are not processed at treatment plants before being used by humans. More than one hundred million of our citizens depend in a whole or in part on underground as sources of drinking water (Beck qtd. in Regenstein 172). Once groundwater becomes contaminated, there is usually no way to clean it. Pesticides also have a great affect on the food we consume. Food is one of the great necessities of life. Yet, a growing amount of evidence indicates that the food supply is being contaminated with pesticides (Mott Snyder vii). These pesticides are most commonly sprayed on the plants in which the fruit or vegetables grow while they are young. Many of them receive several treatments, depending on the problem. Crops can also be contaminated by the soil condition in which the plants are grown. Many farmers water their crops by irrigation lakes or pond. This can put several other types of pesticides on the plants. The main problem is that everything has already been contaminated by the mistakes of yesterday. The problem will not get better unless we stop the use of pesticides. Here are some commodities and the percentages of pesticide residues found in each; 63% of strawberries, 55% of peaches, 53% of celery, and 52% of cherries (Mott Snyder 21). So what can we do as consumers? We must demand food without pesticide residue. As the consumer we also need to wash all produce. Another way to guarantee that there will be no pesticides on the food you eat is to grow your own fruits and vegetablesSo what happens when you eat these pesticides? Some pesticides are harmless but so many more are deadly. There are nine types of pesticides that have been identified by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to cause cancer. These nine are; captan, chlorothalonil, permethrin, acephate, DDT, parathion, dienldrin, methomyl, and folpet. Three of these have been banned from major uses yet they are still commonly found in humans. Cancer is the big problem when it comes to unsafe pesticides, but they still have a greater affect on humans and wildlife. Pesticides also cause mutations in newborns. They take at least one generation to form (Regerstein 254). These can be passed from generation to generation by breast milk and semen. It is now proven that pesticides can make men and wo men sterile. With all the problems that pesticides have brought on our generation, it should make us wonder what will develop in the ones to come. Pesticides have a greater affect on animals. In animals pesticides commonly break down the their nervous system. The therapy is meant to find out the inner conflict which is the cause of repressed behavior to the surface as emotions. The theory can be suggested as the study of the interrelationship of various parts attributes of a person as a mind, personality which gives the idea of the psyche. This forms the base for the emotional and motivational forces at the unconscious level. There are two parts in which the Psychodynamic theory is seen. Firstly, the interaction of the various emotional and state of mind which has an effect on the behavior and state of mind on the subconscious level and secondly the inner forces affecting behavior like the motivation which shows its presence on the behavior (Zhou Davis, 2012). Here the Id is the unconscious libido in a person that activates instincts and psychic processes. The Ego is the self or the personality, decision-making skill to serve the Id demands of one. The moral value builds the Super Ego in a person that makes them capable of inheriting the social norms and rules. Therefore, the theory of Psychodynamics is based on the dynamic interaction of Id, Ego and Super Ego. The mental state or behavior based on emotions is addressed by this theorem (Sammons, 2015). Later in the 1980s, Madri J. Horowitz brought forward the idea of unconscious mental processes and the neurotic behavior is linked to the psychodynamic theory of the everyday life. Further, in the 1950s based on Freud's deductions the ego states' were transaction analyses of everyday life were added by Eric Berne. This has given a scope to the physicians to develop the cognitive behavioral approach for treatment for issues related to the conflict between self and others in person (SimplyPsychology.org, 2016).
